POSTPARTUM
Your body changed.
Your skin changed.
You changed.
Pregnancy is transformative. But the changes it leaves behind can sometimes feel less talked about.
At Medology, we look beyond the surface to understand what has changed — and how we can help restore your skin, your confidence and your sense of self.
A considered approach to postpartum skin restoration.

Yes.
Loss of firmness and changes in skin elasticity are common concerns following pregnancy and significant changes in the body.
Medology focuses on supporting the skin's own regenerative processes and collagen production, using personalised treatment protocols selected according to your skin, degree of laxity and desired outcome.
The aim is to improve skin quality, firmness and texture rather than simply masking the change.
-
A C-section scar can be physically healed while still feeling like something you'd like to improve.
We can assess the scar's appearance, texture and surrounding tissue and determine whether regenerative treatment may be appropriate.
Depending on the scar and your stage of healing, treatment may focus on improving texture, firmness, pigmentation and the overall appearance of the scar.
C-section scars must be fully healed and are generally considered for treatment from six months postpartum onwards, subject to individual assessment.

Yes.
Stretch marks are a form of dermal scarring created when the skin has been stretched and its underlying structure has changed.
They can appear red, purple, pink, brown or white depending on their stage and your skin.
At Medology, we assess the individual characteristics of your stretch marks before creating a treatment plan focused on improving their texture, tone and visibility.
The aim is not to promise that they will disappear, but to support meaningful improvement in the way the skin looks and feels.
-
Pregnancy can trigger significant changes in pigmentation, including melasma.
Rather than immediately trying to remove pigment, we first establish what type of pigmentation you're experiencing, what may be contributing to it and how your skin is currently behaving.
Your pathway may involve targeted skin treatments and a carefully considered home-care approach, with treatment selected according to your individual skin and pigmentation.
-
Postpartum hormonal changes can affect oil production, inflammation and the behaviour of the skin, which can contribute to new or worsening acne.
If acne has appeared after pregnancy, we don't simply want to keep treating the breakouts.
We want to understand why your skin has changed and what is contributing to it.
Your Medology assessment looks at your skin alongside your wider history so that your treatment pathway can be built around the current state of your skin.
-
Absolutely.
There isn't a deadline on postpartum.
For some women, the initial recovery happens relatively quickly. For others, changes in their skin, scars, pigmentation, laxity or body confidence remain for years.
You don't need to have a newborn to be considered postpartum — if your concerns began with pregnancy or childbirth and they're still affecting how you feel about your skin, we can assess where you are now and discuss what may be possible.
-
There isn't one.
Your postpartum pathway is built around what has changed for you.
For one woman, that may mean focusing on a C-section scar. For another, pigmentation, acne, laxity, stretch marks or overall skin quality may be the priority.
Your Medology consultation establishes where to begin, what to prioritise and which treatments or protocols are appropriate for your skin.
The goal isn't to make you look like you never had a baby. It's to help you feel more like yourself again.
-
This depends on the treatment being considered.
Some treatments and active ingredients may not be appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, while others may be considered on an individual basis.
Your consultation allows us to understand your current stage of postpartum recovery and establish what is appropriate now, and what may be better postponed until later.
We will never recommend treatment simply because you are ready for it — your safety and suitability come first.

Postpartum hair shedding can be one of the most distressing changes women experience after pregnancy.
While some degree of postpartum shedding can be part of the normal hair cycle following pregnancy, significant or persistent hair loss should be assessed appropriately.
At Medology, we can discuss your history, timeline and concerns and determine whether a personalised pathway is appropriate or whether further medical investigation or referral should come first.
