Frequently Asked Questions

Medology is a women-focused skin health and regenerative practice taking a personalised, inside-out approach to skin restoration.
We look beyond the surface to understand your individual skin, concerns, lifestyle and — where appropriate — factors such as gut health, nutrition and biology.
Our approach is centred around understanding, restoration and supporting the skin's natural regenerative processes.
-
Medology is for women who want a more considered approach to their skin and overall skin health.
You may be experiencing a specific concern such as acne, pigmentation, scarring, laxity, ageing or hair changes, or you may simply feel that your skin has changed and you don't know why.
You don't need to know exactly what treatment you need before you come to us.
That's what your consultation is for.
-
Your first consultation is about understanding you before recommending treatment.
We'll discuss your concerns, history, lifestyle and goals before assessing your skin and determining what may be contributing to what you're experiencing.
Where appropriate, we may recommend advanced skin imaging or further analysis, including targeted gut or DNA testing.
You'll leave with a clearer understanding of your skin and a personalised pathway to consider.
-
There isn't a universal number.
The number and frequency of treatments depend on the concern being treated, your starting point, the treatment selected and how your skin responds.
Your plan may involve a course of treatments followed by maintenance, or a more targeted approach.
We'd rather recommend what you genuinely need than sell you a predetermined package.
-
This depends on the treatment.
Some treatments have little or no visible downtime, while others may cause temporary redness, sensitivity, swelling or other short-term effects as the skin responds.
You'll be given appropriate aftercare and told what to expect before you proceed.
-
Sometimes.
Certain active ingredients, medications and treatments may need to be paused before or after specific procedures.
We'll provide you with individual pre- and post-treatment guidance so you know exactly what to do.

-
No.
In fact, we'd prefer you didn't feel that you have to choose a treatment from a menu.
Your concerns, skin and goals are assessed first, and your treatment plan is built around what is appropriate for you.
We don't start with a treatment. We start with understanding.
-
No.
Medology's treatment philosophy is centred around regenerative skin health rather than adding volume or relaxing facial muscles.
We focus on approaches designed to support collagen production, skin renewal and overall skin quality.
-
Our treatments and protocols are tailored to individual concerns and may include regenerative skin treatments, collagen-stimulating procedures and personalised skin protocols.
The appropriate treatment depends on your skin, history, goals and suitability.
We don't believe that one treatment should be prescribed to everyone.
-
Yes.
Where appropriate, gut health analysis can form part of your Medology pathway.
Testing can provide additional information about your digestive health which may be relevant when considered alongside your skin, lifestyle and wider history.
Testing isn't automatically recommended for every patient — it should have a clear purpose.
-
No.
You may simply want to understand your skin better, support its long-term health or be proactive about maintaining its quality as you age.
Medology isn't only about correcting a problem.
It's also about understanding and supporting healthy skin before concerns become more significant.
-
Some treatments and skincare ingredients may not be appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
This doesn't necessarily mean you can't speak to us.
Your current stage of pregnancy or postpartum recovery will be discussed during your consultation so that we can determine what is appropriate now and what may need to wait.
-
You don't need to do anything complicated.
Come prepared to talk honestly about your skin, health history, lifestyle, previous treatments and what you'd like to change.
If you're taking medication, undergoing medical treatment or have relevant medical history, having those details available can be helpful.
Most importantly, come with your questions.
